The Martin D42 Special is elegant in every single way. The design for this guitar started simply as an experiment nearly 25 years ago with Martin employee, Dick Boak, looking for ways to properly utilise their laser engraving machine. Initially having trouble with materials the idea was shelved until now! Collaborating with the company, PearlWorks, Boak was able to modify the artwork and beautifully inlay the design. With the approval of Chris Martin IV the design was expanded to the headstock and fingerboard for a truly stunning design. Combined alongside Martin's usual world-class standard for quality every inch of this guitar is crafted to be as elegant as it can be. With classic tonewoods, industry-leading quality, and stunning attention to detail in its craftsmanship this guitar is as much a work of art as it is an instrument.

The inlays have been finished beautifully constantly drawing your attention over the whole guitar.

Tonewoods — With this Martin you get access to the absolute best in quality tonewoods. To recreate a D-42 faithfully Martin have gone with a solid Spruce top, East Indian Rosewood, back and sides, a Mahogany neck, and an Ebony fingerboard. All classic tone woods singing together in harmony as you play.
